Writing Prompt #6

Shoutout to Bill again for his most excellent Star Trek haiku last week. Thanks everyone for your submissions!

In this week's writing prompt, I want you to tell me a story in one sentence. I don't mean a run-on sentence with a bunch of conjunctions and no punctuation. I mean something like this:

In A Station at the Metro

The apparition of these faces in a crowd;

Petals on a wet, black bough.

This short lyric essay was written by Louis Untermeyer in 1919. He had originally written a long poem about all of the crowd appearing in a train station amidst all of the smoke, but he never felt that it was quite right. Eventually, he whittled it down to these two lines.

I'm looking for you to do something similar. Use language so powerfully that one sentence (plus a descriptive title, if you want) can tell me a story or show me a strong image.

Good luck, everyone!
